What an interesting “rags to riches” story. With the current economy, Christine must have been beside herself trying to keep up. Kudos for keeping your chin up and pre-selling the name through press releases and networking. The price may have not set a world record, as some commenters have rudely suggested (“she could have got more if she would have sold it at a live auction versus an on-line reseller”). After what this gal had been through, I would seriously doubt she would have had the energy to sell it in that fashion. For that, it’s another great reason to keep the faith in the great value that on-line auction houses like afternic has to offer.
